5 SharePoint 2016 Takeaways from SharePoint Virtual Summit

If you missed the 2017 SharePoint Virtual Summit May 16, this was a serious once in a year event that set the roadmap for the coming year. It was big. Not a ton of on-premises announcements, but for those with hybrid there are a lot more. Feature Pack 2 was the big one.

  1. SharePoint 2016 Feature Pack 2 will be released in the fall 2017
  2. Feature Pack 2 will include SharePoint Framework SPFx for SharePoint 2016 and provide a consistent API converged code base for developers between Office 365 and on premises
  3. Must see SharePoint 2016 updates video released and shared by Bill Baer – SharePoint Server 2016 updates and advances in Cloud coexistence goes into tangible updates that have both rolled out and those to come
  4. Announced forms for SharePoint improvements with PowerApps and Flow will provide more SharePoint hooks, which applies to SharePoint on premises through the gateway, and clarifies Microsoft’s strategy for forms
  5.
