Microsoft Ignite Conference on the Horizon

We’re Counting Down the Days to Microsoft Ignite!

Microsoft IgniteIf you can believe it, we’re less than four months away from the start of Microsoft Ignite! However, let’s step back, you may have heard of Ignite but are still wondering what it really is? No problem. I’ve broken it down into a basic math problem for you:

Microsoft Management Summit + Microsoft Exchange Conference + SharePoint Conference + Lync Conference + Project Conference + TechEd = Microsoft Ignite is very excited to be a Gold Sponsor at the first ever Microsoft Ignite conference, and while we have been in full Ignite prep mode since it was announced, I wanted to break down all the excitement and logistics that one should know so far.

Preparing For Your Trip to Microsoft Ignite

Let’s get the logistics out of the way. First, Ignite is going to be in the Windy City and the setup is fantastic. The conference will be held just minutes from downtown Chicago at the McCormick Place Convention Center. Ignite will definitely be taking over the city with over 60 official Microsoft Ignite Chicago hotel options for attendees. However, you can only book the official Ignite hotels at the special rates during the registration process.

Keynotes, Keynotes, Keynotes!

Microsoft Ignite Speakers

They have already announced a keynote lineup of Microsoft technical and business leads that we cannot wait to see! Make sure to plan to arrive at each keynote session early to get a good seat, because there’s no doubt that they’re going to fill up fast!

Here are the keynotes that have been announced so far:

  • Satya Nadella – Chief Executive Officer, Microsoft
  • Brad Anderson – Corporate Vice President, Enterprise Client & Mobility (ECM), Microsoft
  • Julie Larson-Green – Chief Experience Officer, Applications and Services Group, Microsoft
  • Gurdeep Singh Pall – Corporate Vice President, Skype, Microsoft
  • Dave Campbell – Chief Technology Officer, Cloud & Enterprise, Microsoft
  • Joe Belfiore – Corporate Vice President, PC, Tablet and Phone, Microsoft
  • Peggy Johnson – Executive Vice President, Business Development, Microsoft
  • Chris Jones – Corporate Vice President, OneDrive and SharePoint, Microsoft

We Love to Learn

While the official agenda has not been released, Ignite has shared a session catalog preview that you can start pursuing for ideas about what you’ll want to attend while at the conference. The full catalog is set to be available this month! The sessions for Ignite are broken down into six categories:

  • Architecture
  • Deployment and Implementation
  • Development
  • Operations and Management
  • Security, Access Management & Compliance
  • Usage and Adoption

There are so many great sessions in the preview catalog, but there are a few sessions in particular that we are really looking forward to attending, including Planning Your Hybrid Strategy. This session looks particularly interesting because this is becoming a more popular strategy for many businesses that are realizing a SharePoint Private Cloud and Office 365 hybrid scenario is the best solution for their company.

To learn more about different scenarios that your business may encounter that would require you to use both Office 365’s applications as well as a private cloud environment for your SharePoint, check out the recording of our free on-demand webinar: “The Hybrid Cloud: Making Office 365 and the Private Cloud work for you”.

It is Time to Party

During the day, you will learn invaluable information by listening to excellent keynote speakers and meeting other talented Microsoft experts, but as the day passes and the lights begin to fade, expect the party to be starting. There are four official Ignite social events that you won’t want to miss while you’re there:

  1. The welcome reception on May 4th
  2. The evening happy hours on May 5th and 6th
  3. The attendee celebration on May 7th. (They haven’t announced the featured entertainer for the attendee celebration, but we can’t wait to find out!)
