Fpweb.net knows SharePoint and we think fast. Not only that… but we now also get FAST. Confused? I certainly was a few months ago. But now I’m learning FAST… um… fast – and so is our team. Microsoft’s FAST search team is spoon-feeding us as we get up to speed on this powerful search extension for SharePoint 2010 Server. And boy, the bites are tasty.
What is FAST Search, and who is using it?
FAST Enterprise Search Platform (ESP) is currently operational at USDA, Citigroup, Dell.com and Buy.com to name a few. FAST is industrial strength search. The name really does say it all. Think Google search functionality for SharePoint and speed for your business – but it works with your Microsoft stack. FAST Enterprise Search has now evolved and is being offered as FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint.
The most exciting combination of them all is blending FAST and SharePoint 2010 for Internet Sites (public facing with FIS). I’m literally drooling. SharePoint 2010 is perfect for ECM and FAST can deliver lightning-quick results across millions of items. Let me repeat – MILLIONS. Do I have your attention? I thought so.
