SPC14: A breakdown of the SharePoint Conference events

SPC14 might as well be tomorrow because it is approaching at the speed of… of a Las Vegas Motor Speedway racing car thing?

(Is that analogy topical enough?) Well, it should be since that’s the SharePoint evening event you can expect from this year’s SharePoint Conference 2014.

But if you’re like me and don’t know enough about NASCAR to even make a clever analogy, there’s PLENTY more where that came from.

Guys, Bill Clinton is going to be there (true story) and if his SharePoint skills are half as sharp as his seductive saxophone serenades then we are all in for a treat as he delivers the SPC14 Keynote on Monday morning this year.

The United States of SharePoint

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines because we’re about to cruise through the events that will be trending at next month’s Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2014, and you don’t want to miss out.

And with over 200 sessions from some of the best SharePoint speakers in the business, you’re bound to find the session track that will leads you to the proverbial SharePoint well of knowledge where you can drink your fill of purified SharePoint know-how and then bring it back to your office and use it to grow a stronger more productive environment. You can check out the SPC14 sessions here, and hopefully by the time this is published the MySPC page will be available so you can cram your schedule together!

But I want to focus more on the events.

The SharePoint Community is a very close-knit, mostly online collection of SharePoint end-users, designers, admins and evangelists. So when an event like SPC14 comes around, you can expect your days and nights to be dominated by networking events, casual conversation and all-out partying with all those profile pics in person.

So, let’s party:

Those that have been involved in the past know that SharePoint people like a good reason to party. That’s why there is so much success behind events like AvePoint’s Red Party (which takes place at the Tao nightclub this year on Monday night) and Metalogix’s (formerly Axceler) annual event which has been known to appeal to Baywatch fans in the past and will, according to this picture, target the party crowd once more this year with the Best of Breed Celebration at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas’ Marquee Nightclub (which is an amazing club if my memory serves me correctly) on Wednesday evening.

The SharePint will undoubtedly make an appearance all over the Vegas strip so keep an eye out for those as they pop up. The main SharePint that I’ve heard about takes place at the Bourbon Room in the Venetian on Sunday night at 7pm. And since it is a bar located at the main hotel where everyone will be staying, you can safely assume this location will remain synonymous with SharePint for the duration of the conference.

Also, a trip to Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas is in the works again thanks to Corey Roth and is basically a SharePint but in a much more German way – a ShareHofbrau.

Among other things going on in Vegas during that time period, you can see Boyz II Men, Miley Cyrus, Celine Dion, and the Wailers playing at various forums throughout the week and Rock of Ages is Venetian’s staple show.

The SPC14 Sanctioned Events

The SPC14 events that almost all take place in the main exhibit hall include the Welcome Reception on Sunday night at 6pm, the Keynote from the 42nd President of the United States of America takes place Monday morning at 8:30am, ClubSPC Monday night at 5pm, the Attendee Party/Evening Event (NASCAR night at Las Vegas Speedway) Tuesday night at 7pm, and Ask the Experts on Wednesday night at 6:15pm.

Quick info about Fpweb.net’s coming and goings while we’re at it:

On top of the attendee-voted swag winners (emergency phone charger and coffee tumbler), Fpweb.net is giving away Fitbit products to help you make every step count at SPC14. At registration, each SharePoint Conference attendee will receive a scratch off ticket from Fpweb.net and our lucky winners will be on the way to fitness transparency with a wristband or tracker that makes it easy to monitor your activity by day and by night. From steps taken and calories burned all the way to how well you’re sleeping, you can track it all with your Fitbit from Fpweb.net. Good luck!

Side note: There’s a SharePoint Fitbit competition going on right now on Facebook and the competition looks fierce! Well done to all involved. May the winner enjoy some epic bragging rights.

Fpweb.net is promoting two events this year:

Our CEO Rob LaMear’s session “The Tipping Point Between On-Premises and the Cloud” is Monday at 2pm. Find out which benefit or setback is tipping your organization one way or the other in his informative argument.

Our Partner Luncheon on Wednesday at noon is an exclusive, first-come-first-served event for current and potential partners and consultants that will show the different ways to form successful relationships with Fpweb.net and also introduce the new channel program manager. Plus, one lucky winner will be walking away with a $1,000 poker chip.

Please let me know if I missed any big events and I’ll be happy to add them! See you all at SPC14!
